<p>
	This has shown up in my garden bed, it seems to develop a hard crown when I try to dig it out. Does anyone know what invasive this culprit is? <br />
	Thank you,

<p>
	Has anyone else seen what appears to be a variegated variety of Phragmites? This is the second occurrence I've personally run into, but I'm not sure if its 100% genetically Phragmites, or a hybrid with another species to produce the variegation. The first patch found was about two years ago growing around a landscaping water feature, and this population is in a planter bed near the Lake Michigan shoreline where we are treating invasive Phragmites for the adjacent landowner.
</p>

<p>
	I've noticed with both occurrences the variegated variety tends to max out at about 3 feet tall, and I've yet to see tassels on it.

<p>
	Recently, we ran into an issue with stiltgrass patch photos, and trying to ID from that scale. We received a photo from a resident that iNaturalist had ID'd as stiltgrass. Both Greg Norwood and I also agreed that it looked like stiltgrass from the photo, but when I arrived it was actually just a patch of one of the <em>Persicaria </em>species. This is doubly complicated by the fact that, with the patches of stiltgrass we've worked with here in the Niles area, <em>Persicaria </em>is generally found nearby. I've attached a couple photos of patches where the two species grow together, with the stiltgrass outlined in red circles. <em>Persicaria spp. </em>would never have really fallen on my list of possible look-a-likes, but, at least in photos, it can be tricky!

<p>
	Hi all,
</p>

<p>
	I was recently called out to a site in our <abbr title="Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area">CISMA</abbr> that was ID'd by the caller as giant hogweed. This far into the season, I've really started to sift out what is mis-identified cow parsnip, and what might actually be a valid sighting of hogweed. Getting to the site, I'm having a really difficult time deciding, so I figured I'd post my pictures here for some input. The only in-person viewing I've had of hogweed was at last year's <abbr title="Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area">CISMA</abbr> field trip near Grand Haven, and from my pictures as well as online comparisons I'm still having difficulties! Its not helping the plant is on its way out for the season, so input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!
</p>

<p>
	For reference: the plants are topping out at 4' tall, seedheads were 9" across at best. Not sure if hogweed can grow smaller than usually reported? The hairy stems and matching seeds are stumping me.
</p>

<p>
	Hi all,
</p>

<p>
	I received an e-mail from someone in the Kalamazoo area today regarding some glass like plants growing at their church along the river bank in the rocks. Wondering if anyone can tell what this could be and whether or not it is / can become a problem. She said the roots are like a fat rubber band.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>Update</strong>: <span>It started growing on the north side of one building and has now jumped over to another area, probably 50-75 yards away.  She keeps trying to kill it with Spectracide and some weed killer the church has but "it won’t quit!"</span>
</p>

<p>

<p>
	A woman in Norton Shores contacted us through our <abbr title="Michigan Invasive Species Coalition">MISC</abbr> facebook page about a plant that has started to grow from her neighbor's yard and through their fence. She was wondering if it is Japanese knotweed. Below are images she sent.

	We received an e-mail today from someone asking for some identification help. I told them that it was more than likely wild grapes/grapevine but I figured I'd ask here just in case <img alt=":)" data-emoticon="" height="20" src="https://forum.michiganinvasives.org/uploads/emoticons/smile.png" srcset="https://forum.michiganinvasives.org/uploads/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" title=":)" width="20" /></p>

	Hello, I'm looking for some help identifying a small plant that has taken over a fair few managed open areas (typically planted as "food plots") in Montmorency county. This is the second year it's been noticed, and there has been significant expansion (or we may just be paying closer attention). Does anyone have an idea of what this could be?

<p>

	I received a phone call from a resident in Belleville regarding an issue with a neighbor who is purposefully planting/transplanting Japanese Knotweed along her property line and along the road in front of his property.  I'm fairly certain it's Japanese Knotweed but I wanted to get a consensus from the community.  Also if anyone can provide suggestions as to what kind of recourse she has to prevent the neighbor from planting a legally prohibited invasive just outside her property that'd be great too.  Thanks!
