Hi all,

The Lake St. Clair CISMA and GiLLs CISMA and our local MDARD Plant Health Inspector hosted a training last month for farmer's market managers on invasive species they might see at their market. This came up because last year a vendor was selling Japanese knotweed at Detroit's Eastern Market as food (the shoots). While we didn't have a great turn out at this event due to snow, farmer's market managers seemed very interested in the topic thus I wanted to post the idea and materials here in case anyone else wants to try it! I've included a brochure with the top 4 invasives that might be an issue (based on our discussion with our local Plant Health Inspector), MDARD contacts and CISMA contacts. We did record the meeting, so I'll post that link when available, too. Let me know if anyone is interested in the slides (I'm guessing they are too large to post here). Thanks to McKenzi, Patrick and Amy Kennedy from MDARD for working on this!

	Hello,

Are there any known sources that list potential workshops/ events that offer MDARD re-certification credits?

Specifically, I am interested in attending an event that offers category 5 Aquatics between 10/25/19 and 12/30/19.

	Thank you,

I am reaching out to my fellow CISMA people to hear about unique games or activities that have been successful in engaging specific audiences.

I've seen a corn-hole type game where the bags represent seeds of native/invasive plants and the board is fertile soil. I've considered trivia-style activities for more adult groups. I've also debated modifying a "Plinko" style game to engage people but the educational relationship seems forced. Two creative classroom activities I've stumbled upon are:

	and

	http://kbsgk12project.kbs.msu.edu/blog/2012/03/19/invasive-species-game/

I feel it is sometimes a struggle to balance educational with interesting. If anyone has any ideas or recommendations I would love to hear them! Thanks.
