    Hi all, 

    I wanted to share the rack card we produced this year as well. This is editable and has been approved by our MISGP contact and MDARD, so feel free to edit and share! One version is designed for print and the other for web use (has hyperlinks). You can set-up a free Canva online account (it's a really useful program for creating outreach materials).

    With the help of several CISMA coordinators and our Outreach Technician Madelaine Corbin, we now have materials ready for anyone to use! These Canva templates are editable, so you can change the information here to your CISMA and print them. You can get a free Canva account to access these for editing. Let me know if you have any questions or run into any issues!

    I posted previously that in 2020 we did a training for farmer's market managers in collaboration with MDARD. I am now working with MIFMA, the state's professional organization for farmer's market managers to get the word out to the entire state about invasive species that might show up at farmer's markets. If you have any interest on collaborating to develop some of these materials please let me know! I'll be setting up a virtual time to meet soon.

  12. Outreach calendar on selected common and watch list invasive species

    The Southeast Michigan/Saginaw Bay CISMA coordinators got together to create a calendar for focusing outreach efforts on 1-2 species each month. Our goal with this is to make a larger impact on social media and through other outreach by focusing on fewer species that we really want the public to keep an eye out for. Our hope is that if people see content on the same species from several different places, it will make more of an impact than just one CISMA posting about it. In addition, we are gathering links etc. on these species, as well as our field/survey knowledge, so that other coordinators don't have to separately gather these resources. If anyone wants more details, let me know! We'll let you know how it goes!

    Hi @Benjamin VanDyke , we definitely have them in Oakland County. I suggest talking to Scott Tiegs at Oakland University who has worked on them.

    We're not doing much at the moment, but I have heard that some property owners in Oakland County are working on it. The main thing I would recommend for people is to plant bare root stock so as not to transfer soil in between locations.

    Hi all,

    The Lake St. Clair CISMA and GiLLs CISMA and our local MDARD Plant Health Inspector hosted a training last month for farmer's market managers on invasive species they might see at their market. This came up because last year a vendor was selling Japanese knotweed at Detroit's Eastern Market as food (the shoots). While we didn't have a great turn out at this event due to snow, farmer's market managers seemed very interested in the topic thus I wanted to post the idea and materials here in case anyone else wants to try it! I've included a brochure with the top 4 invasives that might be an issue (based on our discussion with our local Plant Health Inspector), MDARD contacts and CISMA contacts. We did record the meeting, so I'll post that link when available, too. Let me know if anyone is interested in the slides (I'm guessing they are too large to post here). Thanks to McKenzi, Patrick and Amy Kennedy from MDARD for working on this!
