Matthew Lindauer Posted July 29, 2019 Report Posted July 29, 2019 Hello! I am looking into different ways people have treated Japanese Knotweed, more for a large scale area but am curious about smaller areas as well. I am curious if there have been any new findings that I may be missing, other than the DNR page: https://www.michigan.gov/documents/dnr/knotweed_BCP_372280_7.pdf. Thanks in advance for the input! Matthew Lindauer Posted August 6, 2019 Author Report Posted August 6, 2019 Hi Katie, thank you for the information. Do you have more information about what you used for stem injection? Thanks! Quote
Fields Ratliff Posted August 27, 2019 Report Posted August 27, 2019 Here are a few resources discussing stem injections for knotweed. The typical recommendation is using an undiluted concentration of glyphosate and injecting each stem with 3-5ml. This does not work on small canes (canes need to be about 1/4 inch diameter or larger) so smaller plants may need to be hand-swiped or foliar sprayed. Hope that helps! http://www.weedwarriors.us/Knotweed project on May Creek 2010/Knotweed IPM Profile & Information.pdf https://www.invasive.org/gist/moredocs/polspp01.pdf Quote
erin.jarvie Posted August 29, 2019 Report Posted August 29, 2019 For anyone else interested, there is also a hollow stem injection section on page 9 of the Rodeo label that addresses max application for injection. "Do not apply more than a total of 8 quarts of this product per acre for all treatments combined. At 5 mL per stem, 8 quarts will treat approximately 1420 stems per acre." Of course, rates will change by the herbicide you choose to use, but I found this helpful. Rodeo_Label.pdf Quote
