Michigan's Invasive Species Community

Volunteers needed!

Whether you are new to pulling European frog-bit or a seasoned pro, we need your help to pull this invasive plant out of the Au Gres River! A collection and weigh station will be set up at the park to record how much we remove.
European frog-bit has spread rapidly throughout the Saginaw Bay shoreline and is spreading inland through ditches and streams, boating traffic, and traveling wildlife. This floating plant can create thick, heavy mats, making it nearly impossible for boaters, kayakers, and anglers to enjoy the water. It can also cause harm to aquatic ecosystems by blocking out sunlight which stunts the growth of plants that feed fish and waterfowl.
