  6. Michigan Photographer Turns Invasive Species Art

    Jane Kramer has been working on an art project for the past two years, photographing Michigan’s endangered plants and printing the images of their shadows on paper made from invasive plants. She has presented her methods and work across the state (schools, garden clubs etc.). She spoke at MSU’s science fair last week. If you ever need a lighter, more arty presentation at one of your cooperative meetings, she might be able to help.

    IMPORTANT: For State of Michigan Employee e-mail, some alerts may be quarantined by Microsoft’s Threat Management e-mail scanner. 

    In order to ensure e-mail alert delivery, you will need to add the e-mail address “alerts@misin.msu.edu to your Safe Senders list in Outlook’s Junk E-mail Options.  You can accomplish this in Outlook by right clicking on the e-mail, selecting Junk in the drop down and then in the next drop down selecting Never Block Sender.  When Microsoft receives an e-mail that it determines to be spam the service will check your Safe Senders list to see if it should be allowed through.  If the address is in your Safe Senders list then the e-mail will be delivered.  If the address is not in the Safe Senders list then the e-mail will be quarantined.

    I thought this article was thought-provoking and wanted to share. There's value in others' past experiences and your past experiences can help others. In fact, this forum is a great tool to record and learn from the past! :D

  11. Partner Survey and Meeting Lessons Learned

    I attended this "extended partner meeting" and I think this is a great idea! I was particularly impressed with the pie-charts and other analytics that Nor put together using the data from the survey's. Nor, if possible, could you post some of the those graphics for example?

    All: Imagine conducting these surveys annually/bi-annually. Can we capture the impact of a CISMA?

  15. Pesticide Districts and Contacts

    Many of you have had questions when it comes to the rules associated with pesticide application. The attached map shows each district and the inspector's contact information. If you have questions related to pesticide use, these contacts should be a valuable resource.

    CISMA coordinators: I recommend reaching out to the inspectors covering your area, letting them know who you are, and what you and the CISMA are all about. Staying on contact with these folks makes your job and their job easier by making sure we're following all the rules.
