Shelby Bauer 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2019 Hello everyone. I was recently contacted by a local conservation district for suggestions on managing leafy spurge. We have never actively managed leafy spurge and I was wondering if anyone else has experience with it? Any recommendations would be appreciated! Katie Grzesiak 4 Report post Posted June 19, 2019 Hi Shelby, ISN's management is mainly working with Road Commissions to mow when it first starts flowering (now/a week ago) to prevent spreading by seed. That said, in a past life with the Park Service I used the herbicide Plateau (imazapic) to great effect; took a year or two (small patch), but left the grasses alone. It's not aquatic-approved. We use Plateau here at the Boardman River Nature Center to keep spurge out of the gardens, but don't do any larger-scale treatments.
